BUILDING THE FOUNDATION FOR WHAT COMES NEXT.

EXPOSURE → EDUCATION → TRAINING → EXPERIENCE → MENTORSHIP → PRODUCTION → CONNECTION → OPPORTUNITY

From first exposure to meaningful opportunity, Cornerstone Creative Arts connects education, hands-on training, real-world experience, mentorship, production, and community to give artists the tools, confidence, relationships, and opportunities to discover where they belong and build what comes next.

Whether stepping into the arts for the first time, developing a new skill, gaining professional experience, or preparing for the next stage of a creative journey, we believe everyone deserves a place to learn, create, take risks, and grow.

EVERY ARTIST NEEDS A FOUNDATION.
LET CORNERSTONE CREATIVE ARTS BE YOURS.

THE PRODUCTION → PART OF THE EDUCATION.

At Cornerstone Creative Arts, we believe artists learn by doing.

A classroom can introduce a skill. A rehearsal can develop it. A production puts it into practice. A mentor can help shape what comes next.

Our approach connects arts education with real-world creative experience, creating pathways for people to discover where they belong, develop their craft, contribute to meaningful work, build relationships, and pursue new opportunities.

And when we say artist, we mean everyone involved in making the work happen—performers, musicians, designers, technicians, directors, choreographers, stage managers, builders, costumers, producers, marketers, administrators, and creative leaders.

This is the Cornerstone Creative Arts pathway:

EXPOSURE → EDUCATION → TRAINING → EXPERIENCE → MENTORSHIP → PRODUCTION → CONNECTION → OPPORTUNITY

It starts with discovering what is possible.

Sometimes the first step is simply being invited into the room.

Through performances, community events, workshops, demonstrations, school partnerships, open houses, and accessible programming, we introduce people to the many ways they can participate in the creative arts.

Someone may arrive wanting to perform and discover lighting design. Someone who has never stepped onto a stage may discover stage management. Someone attending their first production may realize there is a creative community waiting for them.

You don't have to know where you belong before you walk through the door.

EDUCATION

Understanding the craft.

Education creates the foundation.

Cornerstone Creative Arts provides opportunities to learn both the artistic and practical skills behind creative work through workshops, masterclasses, conversations and project-based learning.

Our educational programming extends across performance, music, theatre, dance, directing, choreography, technical theatre, design, stage management, arts administration, marketing, and creative leadership.

We want participants to understand not only what they are doing, but why and how it works.

TRAINING

Turning knowledge into skill.

Learning something and being able to do it are different things.

Training gives artists the opportunity to practice, experiment, make mistakes, receive feedback, solve problems, and develop confidence.

Through rehearsals, workshops, coaching, design processes, technical training, and repeated hands-on practice, participants begin transforming knowledge into a working craft.

Practice creates possibility.

EXPERIENCE

Put it into practice.

There comes a point when learning needs a real application.

Cornerstone Creative Arts creates opportunities for participants to use their skills in authentic creative environments—from rehearsal rooms and design meetings to scene shops, tech rehearsals, front-of-house operations, community events, and live performances.

Participants learn what happens when deadlines are real, audiences are coming, collaborators are depending on one another, and creative decisions have to become reality.

This is where confidence grows.

MENTORSHIP

Learn alongside people who do the work.

Access to experienced artists and professionals can change someone's trajectory.

Cornerstone Creative Arts seeks to connect emerging creatives with experienced performers, directors, designers, technicians, educators, producers, administrators, and industry professionals.

Mentorship may happen through a formal program, a masterclass, a production assignment, or simply through working side-by-side.

The goal isn't to create copies of our mentors.

It's to give emerging artists the knowledge, support, perspective, and confidence to discover what kind of artist they want to become.

PRODUCTION

The production is part of the education.

This is where the pieces come together.

Our productions are not separate from our educational mission—they are one of the most important expressions of it.

Performers work alongside musicians. Designers collaborate with directors. Technicians transform ideas into physical environments. Stage managers coordinate people and information. Producers solve problems. Marketing connects the work with an audience.

Everyone contributes to something larger than themselves.

The curtain rising isn't the end of the learning process.

It's evidence of it.

CONNECTION

Creativity is collaborative.

Careers and creative lives are built through relationships as much as skills.

Cornerstone Creative Arts creates spaces where students, emerging artists, established professionals, educators, businesses, organizations, audiences, and community members can meet one another through shared creative work.

These relationships can lead to mentorship, collaboration, employment, new projects, friendships, partnerships, and ideas we could never create independently.

This is also where our commitment to Produced by Petersburg becomes especially important.

We want the people creating here to know one another, support one another, and recognize that Petersburg itself can become a place where creative relationships grow.

OPPORTUNITY

What comes next?

The goal isn't simply to finish a production or complete a class.

It's to help open the next door.

For one person, opportunity might mean auditioning for their first production.

For another, it might mean designing their first show, earning a professional credit, discovering a career in technical theatre, attending college for the arts, finding employment, launching an independent project, meeting a future collaborator, or becoming the mentor for someone coming behind them.

There is no single destination.

Success means leaving Cornerstone with more skills, more experience, more connections, and more possibilities than when you arrived.

THERE IS MORE THAN ONE WAY INTO THE ARTS.

Traditional arts education can sometimes make it seem as though the only path is: Take lessons. → Audition. → Perform.

We see something much bigger.

YOU CAN:

Build.

Design.

Write.

Manage.

Produce.

Teach.

Direct.

Photograph.

Choreograph.

Engineer sound.

Program lights.

Create costumes.

Market a production.

Lead an organization.

Tell a story.

Or discover something you didn't know existed until someone gave you the opportunity to try it.

At Cornerstone Creative Arts, there is more than one way through the door and more than one way to serve at a time.

COME AS YOU ARE.

DISCOVER WHAT'S NEXT.

You may be taking your first creative step.

You may be returning to something you once loved.

You may be developing a professional career.

You may already have years of experience and want to share what you know.

There is room for all of those journeys at Cornerstone Creative Arts.

Because building a stronger arts community isn't only about creating great productions.

It's about creating the people, relationships, knowledge, experience, and opportunities that make those productions—and everything that follows them—possible.

EXPOSURE → EDUCATION → TRAINING → EXPERIENCE → MENTORSHIP → PRODUCTION → CONNECTION → OPPORTUNITY
