CREATIVITY STARTS HERE.
Cornerstone Creative Arts is committed to providing engaging, accessible, community-based arts programming for young people in Petersburg and the surrounding region.
Through partnerships with schools, community organizations, youth programs, local artists, and families, we create opportunities for young people to experience the arts in ways that are creative, educational, welcoming, and connected to their community.
Our youth programming may include after-school programs, workshops, camps, school partnerships, performance opportunities, community arts experiences, technical theatre training, special projects, and youth-focused productions. Programs can be developed for different ages, experience levels, interests, and community needs.
BRINGING THE ARTS TO YOUNG PEOPLE
We believe access to meaningful arts experiences should not depend on whether a young person already considers themselves an artist.
Sometimes the first opportunity is the most important.
Cornerstone works to bring arts experiences into schools, neighborhoods, community spaces, and youth-serving organizations, reducing barriers to participation and creating opportunities for young people to discover new interests, skills, mentors, and possibilities.
Through performance, design, technology, storytelling, production, and creative exploration, participants can build confidence, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, leadership, and self-expression.
BUILT WITH THE COMMUNITY
Strong youth programming begins by listening.
Rather than offering only one predetermined model, Cornerstone can work with schools and community partners to develop programming that reflects the needs, interests, ages, schedules, and goals of the young people they serve.
That might mean a one-day workshop, an after-school residency, a summer program, a technical theatre experience, a collaborative community project, or helping young people create and present an entire production.
Our goal is simple: meet young people where they are and create meaningful opportunities for them to experience where the arts can take them.

We're building even more ways for young people to create at Cornerstone!
After-school programming and summer camp opportunities are coming soon, with experiences designed to give young people a place to explore the arts, develop new skills, make connections, and create alongside other young artists.
Programs will include opportunities across performance, music, movement, design, technical theatre, production, and creative exploration—because we know that not every young artist's place is center stage.
